“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” Photography is a skill that has garnered a lot of attention in the times we live in because of the opportunities it provides and the impact it carves in minds. In this workshop expand your understanding of the subject and learn the basics with the master photographer. Shk Taha B. Raja has travelled the most exotic places and learnt from a rich experience of expeditions. For this workshop he will be simplifying thefollowing topics: -Equipment -Exposure -Composition -Basics of Shutter, Aperture and ISO among other photography tips. Participants get a chance to interact, get feedback and learn in real-time by the Internationally acclaimed photographer. This is a 2 hours workshop is via Zoom.Kindly Note: 1. Art form:Acrylic painting is an art style that is created using synthetic acrylic resins. Acrylics dry rapidly and give the visual impression of both watercolour and oil colours. The advantages of working with acrylics versus other media types is that they are fast-drying, easy to clean up, have low odor, and are heavily pigmented, meaning the colors can be very bold and vibrant.Unlike oils, you can continue to paint over the dried areas and not see any mistakes, hence it’s a very appealing medium for beginners.Date: 22nd January, SaturdayTime: 3:30- 6:00 P.M.

Cursive writing is the style of writing in a connected manner where the letters give a cohertent flowing effect. The most widely used form of writing because of its flow and ease in writing that saves time instead of breaking the flow of writing after each letter.The actual word ‘cursive’ comes from the Middle French word ‘cursif’, which comes from the Medieval Latin word ‘cursivus’ which means ‘running'. This makes sense as your pen is literally running along the page without breaking.Learning cursive not only improves retention and comprehension, it engages the brain on a deep level as students learn to join letters in a continuous flow. It  enhances fine motor dexterity and gives children a better idea of how letters work in combination. Joined-up handwriting develops motor skills and pen control. You can also recognise letters quicker by learning cursive. When you teach cursive handwriting, you’re practising important muscle movements. These are needed for manual dexterity. Being able to complete fine motor movements will also contribute to children’s hand-eye coordination. This is the reason of introducing cursive writing to children at a young age.Good cursive hand gives a child the confidence to be able to write to express confidently and clearly. It gives a neat look to their assignments and helps in better assessment or future reference of notes. Later, in life although with the presence of keyboards, good handwriting is an impressive skill to have.

Introducing our next workshop for kids that engages their minds and attention span. It helps them in organising, focussing and looking at the end result while trusting the process. Paper Sculpting is the method to create 3D art. Using the modelling tools, participants will learn various techniques to create 3D flowers. These flowers help in strengthening their hand-eye coordination, increases their attention span and inculcates the quality of patience. Participants will start by using watercolours to paint the flowers, they will then mould the paper as demonstrated live. After gaining a rough shape they will cut these flowers with the help of adult supervision. These flowers will be then set on a background prepared by the kids using their creative imagination.

Islamic Art of illumination is a 13th century art form which originated in Persia and incorporates the heavy use of gold along with arabesque and floral elements to represent nature in a divine form. The basis of which lies in balance and symmetry.Illumination meaning light, Uses gold highlights for decorative painting of motifs traditionally used to decorate the pages of Quran. Later on, "Art of The Book" extended to embellishing other books of literature. Collection and gifting of such books eventually became a status symbol owing to the valuable art of Illumination.Our Artist: Alefiya Abbas AliAlefiya is a Karachi, Pakistan based Traditional Islamic Artist. She holds a degree in fine arts with distinction. Her major subjects were traditional printmaking and Mughal miniature painting. After her graduation in 2012 she participated in many exhibitions and workshops.Traditionalist to the core. Her passion to learn more about traditional Islamic arts- Geometry, Ancient Islamic manuscripts, Miniature painting and Illumination brought her to VM Center of Traditional arts(Karachi centre of Prince’s School of Art, London) She secured 1st position in the program.Alefiya believes that her skills and creativity got a golden touch of knowledge and understanding of Traditional Islamic art. Her art is inspired by intricate designs of ancient Islamic manuscripts and miniature paintings.Alefiya practices traditional methods. From creating her own paints from natural pigments extracted from minerals, rock, plants and animals to making pure shell gold.She aims to revive the traditional Islamic arts so they can be recognised, glorified and celebrated today, as they were in the past.Duration: 2 hours 4:30pm-6:30pm

Artist and Art: Fatima ben, an artist from Houston, started her journey with art young. She has been an art teacher who enjoyed painting murals and teching aides.After exploring a variety of medium, she found her niche in Watercolor. The loose qualities of watercolors, the natural, inherent luminescence caused by the transparency of the medium on white paper and the unexpected results are what makes her so drawn to the medium.Objective of the workshop: Learn to paint this beautiful Watercolour bird from scratch. Islamic geometric patterns are one of the major forms of Islamic ornamentation that are often built on combinations of repeated triangles, squares and circles, which may be overlapped and interlaced, to form intricate and complex patterns.These may constitute the entire decoration, may form a framework for floral or calligraphic embellishments, or may retreat into the background around other motifs.The Fatimid dynasty developed a distinctive visual language, prominently displaying their doctrines. The role and significance of the Fatimid Imams were reflected in their architecture and artistic products. Hence considered the golden era of Islamic Art.Workshop Objective: -Understand the geometry of Fatimid Shubbaks. -Know the symbolism and the terminology of geometry in Fatimid art and architecture. -In this workshop you will be able to draw from scratch some Fatimid Shubbak/ lattice/ grill pattern belonging to 6 fold geometric. The underlying laying grid and its geometric construction. -Understand the use of similar patterns with different variations throughout the Fatimid Art You will also learn the role of grids in Islamic geometric design as it an essential part which will be broken down in the workshop. -By the end of this session you will be able to understand how Islamic geometric patterns are constructed. - At the end of the workshop you will have a neatly drafted pattern handmade by you with live guidance and feedback from the instructor.Artist Introduction: Alefiya is a Traditional Islamic Artist.
